Mallory shares her recipes for healthier eating at free program

PUNXSUTAWNEY — There was a large turnout of people who learned more about healthy cooking and eating on Tuesday at the Jefferson Street Social Center.

Cindy Mallory, a retired dietitian, instructed the group on how to cook healthy foods and to adapt a healthier lifestyle.

Mallory presented three healthy recipes, including millet sticks with sunflower/pecan breading.

She also demonstrated the art of creating baked sweet potato falafel
and showed how to convert an oily salad dressing into an oil-free one.

Members of the audience were able to taste the healthy creations.

Mallory had prepared the three recipes in advance so there would be plenty of the healthy food items available for taste testing.

Mallory said that she is hoping to schedule more healthy cooking classes throughout the year.

Following the demonstration, the audience viewed two videos, “Auto-
immune Inflammatory Disease” and “Hyper-tension: Taking Off The Pressure.”
