PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Lady Chucks' kept Clearfield off the board in each of five singles' matches and won the overall contest 9-0 Monday afternoon in Punxsutawney.

"We were really happy to be able to host the Clearfield team today," Punxsy head coach Rose Graffius said after the match. "All the members of the PHS girls' team were able to play during the match."

Punxsy's No. 1 singles player, Anna Monyak, was the first to pick up her victory, sweeping Clearfield's Yesh Potel 6-0, 6-0.

Punxsy's Shaina Red- dinger, Searra Wasicki, Lauren Wolfe and Amber Ward each picked up similar 6-0, 6-0 wins over Lauren Whitmer, Rachel Johnson, Rayanna Kavalack and Jen Grenus, respectively.

"Our singles players had some really great serves," Graffius said. "And Amber continued to do a nice job at No. 5 singles."

In doubles action, Calena Spearing and Karlee Wingard defeated Potel and Grenus 8-0 to earn a point for the Lady Chucks.

"Calena and Karlee did a nice job at No. 1 doubles for us," Graffius said.

Laura Chelgren and Jaelene Burkett won their No. 2 doubles match 8-2, and Erin Long and Sydney Jekielek won by the same score in the No. 3 doubles.

"Laura had some really nice shots at the net during her doubles match, while her partner, Jaelene, did a nice job covering the back court," Graffius said.

Kyle Krise and Tori Brooks completed the sweep for Punxsy, defeating Emily Ramsey and Abbi Welker 8-0 in the No. 4 doubles.

Punxsy won't have much time to enjoy its victory Monday, though, as the Lady Chucks play host again this afternoon, this time to the Lady Beavers of DuBois.
