Mabel R. Peffer, 99

Mabel R. Peffer, 99, of Marion Center, passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Communities at Indian Haven in Indiana.

Mrs. Peffer was born Oct. 10, 1912, in West Mahoning Township, a daughter of the late Daniel C. Ruffner and Emma (Fitzgerald) Ruffner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph J. Peffer.

Mabel was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Punxsutawney.

Mabel was an avid reader and loved to crochet. She worked for many years in the cafeteria at Marion Center High School.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Harvey R. Peffer and wife Marjorie of Indiana and Ralph Peffer and wife LuVera of Home; a daughter, Barbara Peffer of Marion Center; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Ralph, and her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Grant Ruffner, Melford Ruffner, Lincoln Ruffner, Miles Ruffner and Clark Ruffner; and three sisters, Elizabeth Robison, Blanche Good and Alice Garrity.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

Additional viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Gearhart officiating.

Interment will be private.
