Former members of the Punxsutawney Area High School band are gathering from points far and near this weekend to present the first of what is hoped to become an annual concert by PAHS alumni.

This special event is being held in honor of James A. Colonna (retired), the long-time director of the high school band. The public is invited to enjoy the free concert consisting of familiar selections ranging from marches to pop tunes to show music and more. The program will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday in the auditorium of the Senior High School on North Findley Street.

Organizers said, "Our celebration is a tribute to those who have shaped the lives of so many by sharing their love of music with all of us."

Following an informal get-together Friday evening at Joe's Drive-in, participants are spending today rehearsing together in preparation for Sunday’s public concert.

Among those coordinating the milestone event are (from left) Todd Clontz (Class of 1987); Bill Rankin (Class of 1979); Brenda Ananea Cooper (Class of 1983); and Dave Beatty (Class of 1981).
