Lois Marie Schumacker, 79

Lois Marie Schumacker, 79, of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 28, 1934, in Rossiter, a daughter of the late Rheed and Edna (Henry) States.

Mrs. Schumacker was Methodist by faith.

She enjoyed word puzzles, reading the Bible, crocheting and needlepoint. She was a tremendous help in caring for her grandson, John Paul Holeva, during his illness.

She is survived by four children, Marielynn Fairman and Chuck Fanus of Punxsutawney, Daniel W. Schumacker and wife Sharon of Wichita, Kan., Mary Schumacker and Jason Harris of DuBois, and Patsy Kerr and husband Jim of Punxsutawney; 10 grandchildren, Michelle Covert and husband Keith, Leslie Fairman, Daniel Schumacker, Scott Falconburg and family, Chad Holeva, Matthew and Tyler Black, Danielle Pascuzzo, Bryanna Kerr and fiancé Daniel McLain and Jessica Kerr; two great-grandchildren, Vivian Covert and Angel Schumacker; and one sister, Dorothy Spencer and husband Earl of Pittsburgh.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons John Paul Holeva and David Fairman; and three brothers, Richard, Arnold and Arthur States.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Paul Thompson.

Interment will follow at Pearce Cemetery, Rossiter.

Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Schumacker's memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or Hunt of a Lifetime.
