Lindsey Ellen Sweet, 50, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Mt. Laurel Nursing Home, Clearfield.

She was born March 2, 1961, in Ipswich, Mass., a daughter of the late David Eugene and Ellen (Lavoie) Cook.

She served the country as a U.S. Marine directly after graduation from high school.

Aug. 19, 1990, she married Paul Joseph Sweet, after reconnecting with one another at their 10-year high school reunion.

In 2001, she and her husband moved from Massachusetts to Punxsutawney to make their home and raise their family. Together they enjoyed renovating their home and hoped to one day restore it back to its original state.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking and painting murals in her home.

Mrs. Sweet worked at County Market, first in the bakery and most recently in the deli.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Garrett Arthur Cook of Chicago, Grant Nolan Sweet, Lily Elyse Sweet and Logan Phillipp Sweet, all at home; and two brothers, Randall Cook and wife Sylvia of Jacksonville, Fla., and Myles Cook and wife Jessica of Marietta, Ga.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
