Lilly “Sue” Pearce, 81

Lilly “Sue” Pearce, 81, a resident of Beaver Elder Care & Rehab Center, Hopewell Township, and formerly a lifelong resident of Ambridge, died Monday, June 6, 2011.

She was born Oct. 26, 1929, in Sykesville, a daughter of the late Frank E. and Maude (Craft) Fleeger.

For 61 years, she was married to Howard C. Pearce, who preceded her in death in December 2007.

Mrs. Pearce was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ambridge.

“Aunt Sue,” as she was known, spent her life raising children: Her own, her grandchildren and even the neighbors’ children. She also shared her love of baking with countless people.

Surviving relatives include a son, Donald G. Pearce and wife Rosemary of Ambridge; three daughters, Janice Patchin and husband John of Punxsutawney, Beverly Dziabiak and husband Alan of Ambridge, and Tammy Wodarek and husband Terry of Hopewell Township; five grandchildren, Donald Pearce of Ambridge, Danetta Snyder of Windber, Sara Lewyn of Leetsdale, and Benjamin and Nathan Wodarek of Hopewell Township; eight great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Bertha and John Spencer of Rossiter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angela Marie Patchin; an infant grandson, Patchin; two brothers, William and Jackie Fleeger; and two sisters, Edrubelle Spencer and Hazel Hill.

Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. today at the John Syka Funeral Home Inc., Ambridge.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home with her pastor, the Rev. Bert Domineck, officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom.
