Lillian K. Swartzlander, 88

Lillian K. Swartzlander, 88, Luthersburg, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at the DuBois Nursing Home after a short illness.

She was born Feb. 23, 1923, a daughter of the late Wilbur and Olive (Nolder) Kirk.

Aug. 13, 1954, she married Joseph Swartzlander, who preceded her in death Nov. 16, 2004.

Mrs. Swartzlander was a graduate of the Brady Twp Class of 1941; a member of the St. Luke’s United Church of Christ; president of the Luthersburg Bicentennial committee in 1976; and a member of the Clearfield County Bicentennial committee, PTA County Council, FO Class at St. Luke’s Church and the Women’s Guild.

She enjoyed needlework, reading, crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble on her iPad, spending time with family, eating out and Saturday-night shopping.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Kathryn “Kitty” Swartzlander of Luthersburg; her twins, JoAnn Brink and husband Joseph of Glen Campbell, and Paul Swartzlander and wife Melinda of Luthersburg; two sons, Kirk Swartzlander and wife Brenda of DuBois, and David Swartzlander of Luthersburg; three sisters, Mary Margret Federici of Ariz., and Lorena and Alice Kirk of Luthersburg; a brother, Harold Kirk of DuBois; three grandchildren, Lacey Blasco and husband Shawn, Molly Swartzlander and Ashley Swartzlander; and a great-grandson, Carter Blasco.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Kirk.

At the wish of Mrs. Swartzlander, the arrangements are private and under the direction of Mohney Yargar Funeral Chapel.
