Lester R. Vallimont, 93

Lester R. Vallimont, 93, of Punxsutawney, formerly of Emporium, passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, in the Altoona Regional Health System.

Born July 28, 1919, in Clearfield, he was the son of Rudy and Iva Miller Vallimont.

On June 19, 1968, he married Ruth Waddington who preceded him in death July 26, 2007.

A veteran of WWII, having served with the US Army, he had previously worked in the CC Camps building roads and camps.

He relocated to Emporium, where he was employed by Sylvania Electric and worked as a carpenter doing home repairs and building many homes.

Mr. Vallimont attended Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Emporium and was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Emporium and Clearfield.

Survivors include: one son, Lester Vallimont and wife Cher of Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren and several great grandchildren also of Las Vegas; one step-daughter, Jean Reitmyer and husband James of Wyandotte, Mich. and grand dog, Max; two sisters, Juanita Lewis and Peggy Beck both of Eustis, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Elsie Sweet, Betty O’Hara, Deloris McDermott and Helen Simar.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium, with Fr. Matthew Ryan, pastor of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail. Interment will be in Newton Cemetery, Emporium.
