Leonard W. Burkett, 73, of Punxsutawney, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, at his home.

Mr. Burkett was born June 20, 1940, in Brookville, a son of the late Leonard J. and Ruth (Stormer) Burkett.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances C. (McDonald) Burkett.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a Military Police Officer.

Leonard worked many years as a foreman for G.E. in Erie before returning to Punxsutawney to work for Yenzi Coal Company before retirement.

He absolutely loved to ride his Harley as much as he could. He also enjoyed fishing and flower gardening.

Leonard is survived by one stepson, Lawrence Robison and wife Rena of Sacremento, California; one brother, Larry Burkett and wife Maxine of Punxsutawney; and two sisters, Althea Yenzi and husband John of Anita and Connie Howard and husband Rick of Punxsutawney.

In addition to his wife, Frances, he was preceded in death by two stepsons, Mark and Lee Robison; and one sister, Sara Chipps.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May, 29, 2014, at the funeral home.

Private interment will follow at Emerickville Church of God Cemetery, Emerickville.
