Leonard Emberg, 84

Leonard Emberg, 84, Union City, passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Oscar and Liza (Chapman) Emberg.

Nov. 4, 1948, at the First United Methodist Church in Union City, he married Darlene Ballog, who survives. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this past year.

Mr. Emberg attended Punxsutawney schools and then served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class during World War II.

He was retired from Barnes Group, Raymond Manufacturing, Corry.

Mr. Emberg was a member of the Eureka Lodge, F. & A.M. No. 366, and the American Legion, LeBaron Post, 237, both of Union City. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union City.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a daughter, Darlene Eddy and husband Gerald, and a son, Leonard Eric Emberg and wife Barbara, all of Union City; a granddaughter, Crystal Eddy of Ashtabula, Ohio; two grandsons, Andrew Emberg and wife Mary, and Casey Emberg, all of Arizona; a great-grandson, Aiden Emberg of Arizona; a sister, Sara Burkhardt of Punxsutawney; and twins, Edna Bish and husband Robert and Edwin Emberg and wife Marie, all of Punxsutawney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Jane Gaston; and a brother, Eugene Emberg.

There will be no calling hours, and funeral services will be at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Union City.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M. Glenn Funeral Home Inc., Union City.
