ALTOONA — The Punxsy girls' track and field team was strong in the field during a 105-41 victory over Bellefonte, but the Lady Chucks couldn't keep up with Altoona during a 116-34 loss during a tri-meet Tuesday in Altoona.

Punxsy (3-4) won 14 events against Bellefonte, including sweeps in the discus, triple jump, 400-meter dash and 3,200-meter run.

Against Altoona, the Lady Chucks won five events, led by a pair of first-place distances by Nickita Martz. Martz had the best throws of all three schools in both the shot put (32-5 1/2) and javelin (106-8).

The rest of Punxsy's wins against Altoona came on the track, where Lauren McGarvey won the 400-meter dash in 64.2; Milea Schall had the fastest 1,600-meter run in 5:30.9; and Alexis Young finished first in the 3,200-meter run in 12:43.6.

All four girls won those events against Bellefonte, as well. Additional Punxsy victories over the Lady Raiders came from Shaina Reddinger in the 100-meter hurdles (19.2); Timi Shiock in the high jump (4-8); Santana Smith in the discus (82-3); Kirsten Dean in the triple jump (32-0); Anna Monyak in the 300-meter hurdles (66.4); and Schall in the 800-meter run (2:41).

Aly Dickey (31-11) and Shannon Carpenter (31-9 1/2) followed Dean during Punxsy's triple jump sweep over Bellefonte, and both Boddorf (65.9) and Feican (68.7) placed behind McGarvey when Punxsy swept Bellefonte in the 400 dash.

Dickey also finished second in the high jump (4-6) against Bellefonte, and sprinter Karah Hollis was second in the 200 dash (29.0) and third in the 100 dash (13.9) versus the Lady Raiders.
