PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Lady Chucks' golf team hosted their second home meet of the season, and the end result was the same as the first meet, as Punxsy swept Brookville, Brockway, DuBois and Ridgway to improve to 14-0 on the season and 12-0 in AML play.
The Lady Chucks' team total was 223 — a whopping 38 strokes better than their closest competitor in Brookville.
As is normal for home meets, Punxsy was given a record of 4-0 for the host meet, and each team it played received one loss for the day.
Punxsy's low scorer was Lauren Giavedoni with a 54.
Giavedoni's score was the lowest of the entire tournament, as well, making her the low medalist.
Punxsy head coach Katie Irwin was happy for Giavedoni after the match.
"Lauren was low medalist today, and we were so happy for her," she said. "As successful as we've been this season, this is the first time a player from our team has taken that sole low medalist spot. It was nice that it happened on our home turf."
The fact that this is Punxsy's first low-medalist shows that Punxsy is always a deep group, but the Lady Chucks showcased their consistency with all six varsity players within seven strokes of Giavedoni and the four official scorers within four strokes.
Marisa Stockdale finished just one stroke behind Giavedoni with a 55, and Caroline Dunkel trailed her by just one stroke with a 56.
Punxsy's final scorer was Sarah London with a 58, but Audrianna Delacour was one stroke away from scoring with a 59, and Lauren McGee barely missed scoring with a 61.
"We showed our depth again today with only seven strokes separating the top six," Irwin said. "All the girls played great rounds."
Punxsy has played each course particularly well and has dealt with some poor course conditions due to weather lately, but Irwin said that was not the case today at all.
"It was a bit windy, but other than that, it was a beautiful day for golf," she said. "The course was in great shape, especially for so late in the season."
Brookville shot a team total of 261, and DuBois and Ridgway both shot 275 as a team.
Punxsy hopes to keep the winning streak rolling this afternoon as the girls travel to Ridgway for a 3 p.m. meet.View more articles in:
