PUNXSUTAWNEY — Despite a late rally by St. Francis, bringing them within three points of Punxsy at 16-13, the Lady Chucks rallied to score the last 10 points of the game and won 26-13 Wednesday afternoon in Punxsutawney.

A catalyst in the late rally was Punxsy's smothering defense, which forced several turnovers late in the game and led to easy fast break lay ups.

"This was a game, offensively, where it seemed tough to establish any rhythm from the get-go, but our press helped us out immensely, as the girls were able to get several baskets in transition from creating turnovers," head coach Darrin Kriebel said after the game.

Kriebel was glad to see his players return home and de- fend their court after a road win Tuesday against Brookville.

"Again, the girls were able to find a way to get the job done, this time defending their home floor," he said.

Despite the convincing win, though, Kriebel still sees the need for his girls to continue to work hard in practice and improve in a few areas.

"Now, it's a matter of playing hard for the duration and for four quarters, especially offensively, and not just in spurts. It's something I know this team is definitely capable of doing," he said.

Morgan VanLeer led the way offensively for Punxsy with 14 points.

Devon Dubensky added six points, and Alli Lunger and Tessa Winebark also scored for the Lady Chucks.

The eighth-grade girls were idle Wednesday, but each squad will host DCC today beginning at 4 p.m.
