WESTOVER — The temperatures may have been dropping Monday night, but the Lady Chucks' shooting percentage and play on the court was rising.

Punxsy jumped out early and kept building its lead as the game went on to make quick work of host Harmony, 67-22, in Westover.

“The girls played solid for 32 minutes on both ends of the floor,” explained Lady Chucks head coach Randy Reitz. “The kids shot the ball really well inside and outside. We also did a nice job on the break.”

The Lady Chucks (9-6) scored eight of the opening 10 points of the contest and never looked back.

Punxsy opened a comfortable 21-5 margin after the opening eight minutes of play. The visitors fell just shy of equaling their same efficiency in the second quarter by a 19-5 tally for a commanding 40-10 intermission score.

The Lady Chucks were able to further extend the difference to an almost 40-point lead, 56-17, by the end of the third stanza.

Taylor Newcome finished with high-scoring honors with six baskets for 12 points.

Freshman Hope Bridge came off the second half bench for five buckets of her own for 10 points as the other double-figure scorer.

Alyssa Reitz contributed eight points, while both Ashley Reitz and Nicole DiPietro hit for seven tallies.

Jensen Constantino and Anna Horner each added six points. Allie Fye and Emma White chipped in four points apiece. Shaina Painter rounded out the scoring line with three points.

Harmony (0-15) received 10 points from both Alyssa Raho and Lindsay Welteroth.

“We hope the shooting confidence we had tonight will carry over against DuBois,” added Reitz.

The opening contest was a prelude to the late game. The junior varsity Lady Chucks (12-2) shut out the Lady Owls in two of the four quarters on the way to a 28-7 victory.

Punxsy netted all 11 points of the first quarter. Harmony made the second period a bit closer, 7-4, but still trailed 18-4 at the half.

The JV Lady Chucks added the lone seven points of the third quarter but an even, 3-3, final period made for the 28-7 final.

Bridge paced Punxsy with eight points. Claire Smith and Ivy Ferko added six and five points, respectively. Morgan Doverspike connected for two baskets.

White and Mikeelee Brink finished with two tallies, and Amber Ward downed a free throw.

Punxsy will return to host DuBois on Thursday starting at 6 p.m.
