CURWENSVILLE — After a long layoff, the Lady Chucks JV softball squad showed no signs of rust Friday when it traveled to Curwensville, putting up an impressive 18 runs in an 18-2, four-inning victory over the Golden Tide.

"This was a quality team effort by everyone," Punxsy head coach Phil Mennitti said. "Every player did their job at the plate by either collecting walks or putting the bats on the ball for RBIs. Coach (Brad) Constantino and I were pleased with their performance tonight on offense and defense."

Despite Curwensville managing a pair of runs, Punxsy starting pitcher Monica Cameron threw a four-inning complete game, walking two and striking out six.

At the plate, the Lady Chucks showed what Mennitti called "good discipline," collecting 15 walks.

In addition to her strong pitching performance, Cameron reached base four times for Punxsy via walk.

Another Lady Chuck with a hot bat is Alyssa Reitz, who hit her second home run of the season on the third pitch of the game.

Menitti also mentioned a plethora of other Lady Chucks' individual perfor- mances.

Catcher Jensen Constantino scored three runs, going 1-for-1 at the plate and walking three times.

She also stole a pair of bases.

Emily Horner was 2-for-2 at the dish, with hits in the third and fourth.

She stole a base in the third inning and scored both times she reached via hits.

Savanna Hallman was especially aggressive for the Lady Chucks on the basepaths, stealing six bases after walking twice, singling in the third and doubling in the fourth. She also had a total of three RBIs.

The individual achievements continued to rack up for the Lady Chucks, as Shaina Painter and Madison Neal also added doubles in the fourth inning.

Three other Punxsy players — Kara St. Clair, Anna Horner and Nicole DiPietro — rounded out Punxsy's 10-hit total with singles.

Punxsy will be back in action this afternoon when the Lady Chucks travel to St. Marys — along with the varsity squad — to take on the Lady Dutch in a 4:15 p.m. contest.

Thursday, the JVs will wrap up a two-game week with a 4:15 p.m., junior-varsity-only contest at Elk County Catholic.
