PUNXSUTAWNEY— It's been a regular season full up ups and downs for the Lady Chucks' tennis team.

In the final home match of the season, it's only fitting that Punxsy would go out the right way to the tune of a 7-2 win over Brockway.

In their past two maches, the Lady Chucks have outscored the opposition 15-3.

Leading the way for the Lady Chucks was Amber Ward.

Ward won her No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-0 in straight sets over Brockway's Anna Brinkley.

"[Amber] Ward's serves were on target, which helped her cruise to an easy win," head coach Rose Graffius said.

Seniors Searra Wasicki and Karlee Wingard took to the home court for the final time in their high school career.

Both couldn't ask for a better ending, as Wasicki won her No. 2 singles match 6-3, 6-3, and Wingard took home her No. 3 singles match 6-1, 6-0.

"With it being both Wingard's and Wasicki's last home match, it was nice for them to win," Graffius said.

Kaitlyn Ray and Emma White both controlled the tempo in their matches as well, as Ray defeated Cameron Hrin in No. 4 singles action 6-2, 6-1,
while White won her match against Chanice Britton 6-3, 6-2.

With districts on the horizon, Graffius switched up her doubles teams a bit to allow the girls to get comfortable with their teammates.

In No. 1 doubles, Ray and Brooke Stello lost 8-0.

Graffius said, despite the result, the girls did a good job.

White and Laurel Szymanski lost the No. 2 doubles match to Ritz and Hrin.

The best news of the day came as Donna Roberts took part in her first match.

Roberts and Maria Pascuzzo won the No. 3 doubles match 8-4.

"It was her first match," Graffius said. "She has practiced hard throughout the season and was ready to play in a doubles match. It wasn't just her first match, but it was the first win for both her and Pascuzzo."

The ladies will wrap up their season this afternoon against Johnsonburg.
