Kenneth M. Weaver, 71

Kenneth M. Weaver, 71, Home, passed away Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at the Armstrong County Hospital.

He was born in 1939, in Smicksburg, a son of the late Milo Weaver and Maxine (Cornman) Weaver, who survives.

Mr. Weaver was a veteran of the Cuban Missile Crisis, having served in the U.S. Army.

He received a BS degree from IUP, a master’s degree from Duquense University, and he was also a graduate of Oklahoma Farriers College.

Mr. Weaver was a member of the U.S. Trotting Association, the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association, the Pa. Harness Horsemen Association, a lifetime member of the Foothills Horse and Pony Association, a former member of the Pa. Contest Riders Association and a former member of the Pa. Flying Farmers Association.

He was employed as a school teacher for Armstrong County schools for 25 years before retirement and was self-employed as a Standardbred Horse Trainer.

In addition to his mother, surviving relatives include a companion, Katricia Adams of Home; a daughter, Robin Weaver of Mahaffey; a son, Brian Weaver and wife Heidi of Rural Valley; two grandchildren, Augusta and Rhys; two step-grandchildren, Hannah Farester and Rory Farester-Hohl; a brother, Paul Weaver and wife Carol of Home; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter.

Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. today and from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at the Old Mahoning Baptist Church, 5225 Mahoning Road, Home, Pa., 15747.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at the church with the Rev. Micah McMillen officiating.

Interment will be in North Point Cemetery.
