Karen L. McKain, 61, of Smicksburg, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at UPMC Shadyside.

Ms. McKain was born May 28, 1951, in Punxsutawney. She is survived by her parents, Robert V. Stiteler and Natalie A. (Niel) Stiteler of Smicksburg.

Karen was a 20-year veteran of the US Air Force, retiring as a Staff Sergeant.

She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Smicksburg. Her hobbies were gardening, reading, crocheting, shopping and collecting shells on the beach.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a son, Alexander P. McKain of Wichita Falls, TX.; two daughters, Jennifer A. Altman of Ft. Worth, TX., and Elizabeth J. McKain of Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Linda R. Bingaman of Punxsutawney; a brother, Gregory Stiteler and wife Roxanne of Smicksburg; and two grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at the Salem Lutheran Church in Smicksburg.

Additional viewing will be held Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church, where a funeral service will be held with Rev. Arlene Schweitzer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salem Lutheran Church.

McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney is in charge of arrangements.
