PUNXSUTAWNEY — It did not take a last second touchdown pass and two-point conversion Monday night like last Friday's exciting varsity contest.

The Punxsy junior varsity football team ran away with a decisive 38-13 victory over St. Marys in Punxsutawney Monday night.

Dakota Thomas ran a punt back for a score and threw for another, while Perry Arrington and Will Harmon added two rushing touchdowns apiece to help the JV Chucks to a 3-1 record on the year.

After a scoreless first frame, Arrington found paydirt two times in the second quarter.

Arrington dashed in from 15 yards away before adding a six-yarder later in the quarter, with Travis Perry connecting on an extra point for a 13-0 score at the half.

In the third, Thomas raced a punt back 65 yards for the third Punxsy score to extend the advantage to 19-0.

At quarterback, Thomas fired a 45-yard scoring strike to Josh Shuckers to take the tally to 25-0.

Will Harmon opened the fourth quarter scoring with his first of two runs, this one of 30 yards, and Perry booted the point after to make it 32-0.

The Dutch found the endzone for the first time before Harmon rambled in for the Chucks last score from 5 yards out. St. Marys added one late touchdown for the 38-13 final.

"We were able to run the ball effectively, which was good to see," said JV coach Todd Heigley.

Punxsy will travel to Clarion-Limestone next Monday for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
