PUNXSUTAWNEY — A three-vehicle accident that occurred at 4:40 p.m. Friday on East Mahoning Street in front of the Punxsutawney Eagles left one of the drivers with minor injuries.

According to Punxsutawney Borough Police, a 1990 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Lucy Young, of Punxsy, was traveling west on East Mahoning Street when she came upon traffic that was stopped ahead. She was unable to stop in time and struck a Dodge Dakota driven by Janice White, Punxsutawney, that was stopped in front of her.

Police said White’s vehicle was pushed forward and struck the rear of a 2001 Honda Coupe driven by Carol Hoffman, Brookville, who was also stopped in traffic while traveling west on East Mahoning Street.

According to police, a juvenile passenger in Young’s vehicle was treated for minor injuries by personnel from Jefferson County EMS.

Young’s vehicle was towed from the scene by Rebuck’s South Side Service. The other vehicles were driven from the scene.

Police were assisted by the Elk Run Volunteer Fire Company.
