BROOKVILLE — Marianne Snedden and John Robinson, spokespersons for the Just for Jesus Challenge Homeless Outreach Center, said “false accusations,” were presented at a recent public hearing involving the controversial group home.

“We just wanted to let you (the commissioners) know, regarding the Dec. 19 meeting, there were many false accusations brought up at that meeting, and they were very misleading, and we wanted to assure you of that,” Snedden said at last Thursday’s Jefferson County commission meeting.

The commissioners set the Dec. 19, 2011, public hearing as required by Act 95 of 2011 passed by the Pennsylvania General Assembly.

The purpose of the meeting, which was chaired by Snyder Township Solicitor Ed Ferraro, was not to criticize anyone’s religious beliefs, and any comments regarding religious beliefs were not allowed.

The meeting was also attended by state Sen. Joe Scarnati, who said at the meeting that the Rev. Jack Wisor, who runs the facility, has taken a homeless shelter with good intentions and turned it into a compound for convicted felons and sexual predators.

Scarnati also said there was a large amount of information presented by area residents and public safety and public officials in regard to the lack of security and sanitary conditions at the Just For Jesus compound.

Corbin said this was the intent of the meeting: To present new information.

“Part of the reason for having that meeting was to get things clarified,” he said. “To get the information out there. We tried to present information that was different than what some of the people in the audience had testified to — from 911, the sewage association. We did try to present factual information.”

Snedden and Robinson invited the commissioners to tour the ministry, which is located in Brockway.
