Judith Gordon Philp, 74

Judith Gordon Philp, 74, of Thompson Street, Brookville, lost her battle with cancer Tuesday April 29, 2014, at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 29, 1939, in Reynoldsville, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Ellen L. Vandivort Gordon. She was married to Dr. Fred Philp on July 28, 1962.

She was a graduate from Reynoldsville High School and Penn State University, with a degree in elementary education. She taught at Penn Hills prior to her marriage and raising her family in Brookville.

She was a member of the Brookville Presbyterian Church. Judy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She appreciated the theater and would often attend Sawmill Theater productions with her friends.

In November, she traveled to New York City for the first time and was thrilled to attend “Phantom of the Opera” on Broadway with her children.

She is survived by her children Scott G. Philp and his wife, Karen, of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Bryant D. Philp and his wife, Susan, of New Market, Maryland, and Jennifer Philp Lamb and her husband, John, of Mooresville, N.C.; her brothers, Dr. Dan S. Gordon and his wife, Patricia, of Wishaw, Pa., and Joe B. Gordon and his wife, Nancy, of Treasure Lake, DuBois, Pa.; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one granddaughter.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 2, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Brookville, PA 15825.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Nathan Royster officiating.

Interment will be at the Lakelawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville, Pa.
