Josephine Dale Perry, 84

November 25, 2013

Josephine Dale Perry, 84, of Laurel Brook Drive, Brookville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013. Waiting at the gates of Heaven was her loving husband, Edward Lee Perry, whom she married on Dec. 15, 1946. He died on March 12, 1999.

She was born May 24, 1929, in Luling, Texas, the daughter of Howard Dale
and Ida Josephine Davis Williams. She and her husband, Edward, lived in Punxsutawney for 30-plus years.

She is survived by her sister, Nora (Marvin) Grimes of Humble, Texas; her daughters, Norene (Jim) Smith of Brunswick, Ohio, Diane (Mike) Daugherty of Rockland, Pa., and Susan (Mike) Trunzo of Brockway; a niece, Linda (Dan) Shaffer of DuBois; and a nephew, Glen (Loretta) Sherard of Longview, Texas.

She is also survived by grandchildren Mark Smith, Marlene (John) Dalgielsh, Darlene (Mike) Bland, Dana (Patty) Daughtery, Mike (Kristin) Daugherty, Tonya (Vance) Wilson, Scott (Denise) Trunzo, Steve Trunzo, and Mandy (Jessie) Jadush; and great-grandchildren A.J. Brown; Kenny and Andrew Dalgielsh; Mike Bland; Zack, Solomon and Sawyer Daugherty; Alex, Aaron Daugherty; Makenzie and Madisyn Wilson; Caitlynn and Ryan Schmidt; Jacob Jadush; and Madison Trunzo.

Josephine’s pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She loved traveling with her husband all over the southern states, pulling their jeep behind their motor home and dealing with antiques. They made so many friends along the way and felt they were living the “Good Life.”

Everybody that came into contact with Josephine loved to hear her tell the stories of her life. Her southern accent made her stand out in the crowd.

She loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart, and it showed with all she did, from teaching Bible School in the very poor parts of Texas as a young woman to teaching Bible School at the Baptist Church in Punxsutawney.

She treated everybody equally.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; and a sister, Dee Sherard.

Private services will be held at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway with the Rev. Roy Daugherty officiating.

Interment will follow in the Butler Cemetery in Brookville.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Online condolences may be left at csfhinc.com.
