Joseph R. Gigliotti, 86, Walston, passed away Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at his home.

He was born July 9, 1924, in Walston, a son of the late Frank and Mary Gigliotti.

Nov. 8, 1947, he married Mary Jane (Astorino) Gigliotti, who preceded him in death Dec. 2, 2003.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in European, Africa, Middle Eastern and Asiatic Operations.

Mr. Gigliotti was a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church.

He was a 1942 graduate of Punxsutawney High School and worked as chief divisions clerk for the Buffalo Division B&O, C&O and CSX Railroad, where he retired after 43 years of service. He was a member of the Punxsutawney VFW Post 2076, and his hobbies were hunting, fishing and woodworking. He loved spending time with his hunting dogs and his horse.

Surviving relatives include a son, Joseph F. Gigliotti of Walston and girlfriend Linda Gatesman of Lucinda; and two daughters, Angela Marie Gigliotti of Walston and Joann M. Clinger and husband Wayne of Falls Creek.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony Gigliotti and John Gigliotti; and two sisters, Grace Fernichio and Sister Mary Estelle Gigliotti.

Mr. Gigliotti was the last remaining member of his family.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, Walston, with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo officiating.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
