John V. “Vic” Pasley, 88

John V. “Vic” Pasley, 88, Springfield, Va., passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010.

He was born March 24, 1922, in Big Run.

He was married to Ruth Frances Kemper Pasley, who preceded him in death in September 2008.

A colonel in the U.S. Air Force, he was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

Mr. Paley began his 34-year Air Force career as an aircraft mechanic at Bolling Field in 1941 and retired from the Pentagon as the deputy chief of aircraft maintenance for the U.S. Air Force in 1974. He earned significant recognition for outstanding achievement during his long and illustrious career.

He was an active member of several veterans’ organizations and was a member and supporter of the charities of the Shrine, having been inducted into the Shriners while serving with the Air Force in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Surviving relatives include a son, John K. “Jack” Pasley and wife Marie of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Patrick E. “Pat” Pasley and wife Kitty of Winter Park, Fla.; six nieces; and a nephew.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon and Lee Pasley.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Dr., Alexandria, Va.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at the funeral home.

A funeral service at Ft. Myer Old Post Chapel and interment with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
