John S. Brink, 89

John S. Brink, 89, of Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at his home.

Mr. Brink was born June 4, 1924, in Glen Campbell, a son of the late Stanley J. and Mary (Chacalla) Brink.

He is survived by his wife, Rose M. (Serian) Brink, of Punxsutawney.

He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army with the 955th Field Artillery Battalion as a field gunner.

He was a recipient of the Silver Star and five Bronze Battle Stars, including Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge.

John was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Glen Campbell and the Rossiter American Legion. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, drummer and polka dancer.

In addition to his wife, Rose, he is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Brink-Deters of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Betty Kuhel and husband Ray of Cleveland, Ohio; two grandchildren, Lisa and Tyler Deters; one great-granddaughter, Talia Deters; two special nieces, Stacey Love and Heather Kunselman; many other loved nieces and nephews; and three brothers-in-law, Samuel, Thomas and Dennis Serian.

He was preceded in death by two infant children, John Brink and Zetta Lee Brink; two brothers, Stanley and William Brink; and three sisters, Mary Brink, Jean Puz and Agnes Grusky.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Friday at the Church of the Resurrection in Glen Campbell, with the Rev. Timothy Kruthaupt as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
