John Robert Zanaglio, 81

John Robert Zanaglio, 81, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at his residence with family by his side.

He was born March 24, 1929, in DeLancey, a son of the late Bartolo and Julia (Cappa) Zanaglio.

May 16, 1951, he married Beverly L. Ott, who survives.

Mr. Zanaglio was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Polish Club, F.O.E. Eagles, and he had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, spending his time in Germany.

He retired from PennDOT District 10 in 1990.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a daughter, Debbie Guzzo; a son, David Zanaglio and wife Cindy; five grandchildren, Michael Zanaglio and wife Trisha of Big Run, Michelle Zanaglio of Punxsutawney, Nathan Zanaglio of Punxsutawney, Justin Bianco of North Carolina, and Joe Guzzo and wife Ashley of Punxsutawney; three great-granddaughters, Lexi Zanaglio, Abby Zanaglio and Rayven Welch; a brother, Albert (Cowboy) Zanaglio of DeLancey; several nieces and nephews; and a son-in-law, Jim Miller.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, David E. Zanaglio II; a son, John R. Zanaglio II; a daughter, Linda D. (Zanaglio) Miller; three brothers, Tony, George and an infant brother; and six sisters, Lucy, Minnie, Mary, Betty, Esther and Sally.

Mr. Zanaglio loved his family, walking, the company of his dog, Gizmo, and gardening. He was very close to his caregivers from Senior Assist: Ashley, Tammy and daughter Debbie; Punxsy Hospice; and he enjoyed talking with his neighbors and friends.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo officiating.

Interment will be in St. Adrian & Anita Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
