John Ray Curry, 59

John Ray Curry, 59, Mahaffey, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011.

He was born April 30, 1952, in Punxsutawney, a son of Wilma Curry, who survives, of Mahaffey, and the late Ray S. Curry.

June 16, 1973, he married his loving wife, Debra K. (Bennett) Curry, who survives, of Mahaffey.

Mr. Curry was Protestant by faith and a member of the Mahaffey Methodist Church.

He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in November 1977.

Mr. Curry was a heavy equipment operator for Waroquier Coal Company in Clearfield. He was also employed for Benjamin Coal Company, Hepburnia Coal Company and Beth Mining.

He served on the Mahaffey Borough Council as a member and past president, and past member of Susquehanna Rod & Gun Club. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his time in his boat.

In addition to his wife and mother, surviving relatives include two sons, Justin R. Curry of Pittsburgh and Joshua E. Curry of Mahaffey; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Waldron Funeral Home, Mahaffey.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2011, at the funeral home with the Rev. Howard Lindsey officiating and Pastor Myron Wattenphul and Pastor Tina Keller as co-officiants.

Interment will be private for immediate family only.
