John P. Kostick, 92

John P. Kostick, 92, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at his home.

He was born April 9, 1919, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late John P. and Mary (Baker) Kostick Sr.

He was married to Anna M. (Misiewicz) Kostick, who survives, of Punxsutawney.

Mr. Kostick served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church and the Punxsutawney Eagles No. 1231.

Mr. Kostick was known for his vegetable gardening which he loved and picking berries every year. He and his wife also spent a lot time at the Area Agency on Aging, where they enjoyed meals and socializing.

He adored his grandchildren and was a loving father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include three daughters, Rose Pinkerton and husband Richard of Johnstown, Mary Sokol and husband Paul of Pittsburgh, and Monica Monoskey and husband Larry of Rossiter; three sisters, Agnes Bird of Arizona, Catherine Mastrununzio of Connecticut, and Dorothy Rolek of Pittsburgh; and four grandchildren, Emily and John Pinkerton, and Shara and Shannon Monoskey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Kostick; and three sisters, Margaret Schwenck, Mary Breiter and Emily Holben.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2011, at the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2011, at Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo officiating.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
