John A. Mallory, 92

John A. Mallory, 92, of Montoursville, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, in ManorCare South, Williamsport. 

He was born Aug. 6, 1920, in Heilwood, Pa., a son of the late Robert and Elva (McCarty) Mallory.

John married Norma (McClure) in 1943, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 19, 2008.

He served in the Air Force and was a veteran of World War II.

He was retired from Sylvania.

John was a charter member and helped organize the beginning of the First Christian Church of Montoursville.

He was very active in the Church and also served as an Elder.

John was an avid HAM radio operator, and he enjoyed hunting, the outdoors and camping. He traveled throughout the United States on several occasions.

Surviving relatives include five sisters, Marion Wilhelm and husband Robert of Sanborn, N.Y., Ruth Peace of Punxsutawney, Jane Cameron, and Nancy and husband Jay Elbel, all of Rossiter, and Joan Pearce and husband Harvey of Punxsutawney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Norma, John was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Thomas, George, William, Richard and James; and three sisters, Irene Jones, Jeanette Seidinski and Helen Greenawalt.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday Sept. 23, 2012, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. 

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at the First Christian Church of Montoursville, 5329 Lycoming Mall Dr., Montoursville, with Pastor Elmer Fritz officiating.

Interment will be at the McClure Cemetery, Big Run, on Monday afternoon.
