John J. Tote, 91

John J. Tote, 91, of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville.

Mr. Tote was born Nov. 14, 1921, the son of the late Stephen and Tilly (Chumbas) Tote.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose M. (Barber) Tote.

Mr. Tote was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.

He was a member of SS. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church.

He enjoyed carpentry, square dancing, polka, golfing and hunting and was an avid bingo player.

Mr. Tote is survived by a son, Richard Tote of Brookville; two daughters, Diana Loveric and husband William of Remsen, N.Y., and Marianne Thomas and husband James of Reedsville; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Mary Tote of Brookville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Rose, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janice Marie; four brothers, Stephen, Andrew and Frank Tote and an infant brother; four sisters Agnes Blomquist, Elizabeth Heitzenrater, Margaret Kiss and an infant sister; and his first wife, Virginia Betty (Kiss) Tote.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at SS. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo as
Celebrant.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
