John Fred Depp, Jr., 74, of Hamilton, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Scenery Hill Manor In Indiana.

He was born Oct. 11, 1932, in Punxsutawney, a son of John Fred Depp, Sr. and Katherine (Braughler) Depp.

He married the former Sally Waite.

He was a self-employed farmer and excavator.

He was the treasurer of the Class of 1957.

He loved gardening, being outdoors and hunting.

He loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving relatives include three children, J. Mark Depp and wife Toni of Hamilton, Marcia Depp and Paul Daniels of Florida and Melanie Ludwig and husband Ned of Nictown; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Depp of Punxsutawney.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at the funeral home officiated by the Rev. Edingar.

Interment will follow at Hamilton Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in John's memory to the Hamilton Community Center.
