John Daniel Leinbach, 77, of Indiana, and formerly of Glen Campbell, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at his home.
He was born Dec. 20, 1932, in Clearfield, a son of Daniel S. and Florence E. (Hall) Leinbach.
A 1951 Punxsutawney High School graduate, Mr. Leinbach served in the U.S. Air Force from June 1951 to August 1955 during the time of the Korean conflict.
Following his work as an electron device mechanic with Bell Telephone Laboratories in Murray Hill, N.J., he was employed from 1956 to 1969 with McDonnell/Douglas Aircraft Corporation in St. Louis, Mo., as an electrical, electronic and radio mechanic and inspector and as a training department instructor and supervisor.
Mr. Leinbach next pursued his interest in religious studies by earning a bachelor of arts degree in Biblical education in 1973 from Washington Bible College in Lanham, Md., where he served as Dean of Men. For three years, he focused on his graduate studies at the Capital Bible Seminary in Lanham, Md., while working at the Washington Bible College campus bookstore and later as a Christian education consultant with Zondervan Family Bookstore in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Leinbach next returned home to Glen Campbell and found employment from 1980 to October 1992 as a corrections officer at the Indiana County jail.
In 1986, he began his longtime association with the Indiana Hospital Safety and Security Department, when he started working as a safety and security officer. Even following Mr. Leinbachâ€™s retirement Dec. 31, 1997, he remained a volunteer and valued member of the Indiana Regional Medical Centerâ€™s Safety and Security Department family and the hospital staff at large.
Mr. Leinbach will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his many friends among the IRMC employees and especially by the safety and security department staff, who considered him a part of their family.
Known by his friends as a good Christian man, he was considered a kind and caring man who would do anything for another person.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1967; his mother in 1999 and his maternal grandparents, the well-known Glen Campbell physician, Dr. Willis DeLoss Hall and Cora (Bundy) Hall.
Friends will be received from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at the Rairigh Funeral Home Ltd. in Hillsdale, where a 10:30 a.m. funeral service will immediately follow, with family friend, Pastor James Ellsmore, officiating.
Military honors will be observed.
Interment will follow at the Burnside Cemetery.
