WINSLOW TOWNSHIP — The Jeff Tech Operating Committee (JOC), at its most recent meeting, congratulated one of its Criminal Justice students who
competed in the district competition for criminal justice students.

Jamie Rhed, a Jeff Tech advisor, said that Justin Gooden, a Jeff Tech sophomore, attended the national competition and did very well as the lone local student in the national criminal justice competition.

Gooden thanked the administration and JOC for allowing him to attend.

"It was the opportunity of a lifetime," Gooden said.

Gooden went on to tell the committee that he was the youngest competitor, and the only competitor who wasn't from a dedicated criminal justice program.

He said he learned everything from his teachers and sponsors on his own.

"I took 16th in the nation, with the odds against me. Overall, it was a fantastic experience," he said. "I don't think I could ever find a
better way to spend my summer."

Gooden said that, as a part of the experience, he got to fly for the first time and visit areas that he never thought he would.

"I was able to meet people from all over the country," Gooden said.
He added that next year, he'd like to see more students compete with him.

The members of the JOC congratulated Gooden on doing so well in the competition.
