Joan Wilma Schopperth, 78, Punxsutawney, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Aug. 5, 1933, in Patterson, N.J., a daughter of the late Joseph and Ann Degelman.

She married Timothy Schopperth, who survives, of Punxsutawney.

Mrs. Schopperth was a homemaker and a member of the Chestnut Grove Independent Church in Punxsutawney.

In addition to her husband, surviving relatives include a daughter, Karen Diorio of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons, Timothy Schopperth of Hawthorn, N.J., and Steven Schopperth of Punxsutawney; two sisters, Betty Huffman and Carol Eelman, both of New Jersey; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Lacas; and a brother, Sonny Degelman.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2011. at the funeral home with Pastors Joe Spack and Darrell Smith officiating.
