Joan Pearce, 73

Joan Pearce, 73, Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Oct. 19, 1939, in Rossiter, a daughter of the late Robert E. and Elva N. (McCarty) Mallory.

On Sept. 21, 1958, she married Harvey L. Pearce, who survives.

She was a member of the Steffy United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed bingo, her family, auctions, sewing, baking and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a former employee of Wal-Mart.

In addition to her husband, surviving relatives include three sons, Mark Pearce and wife Christina of Punxsutawney, Doug Pearce and wife Wanda of Hillman, and Dave Pearce and wife Tracy of R.D. 1 Rossiter; and a daughter, Jill North and husband Bill of Rossiter; nine grandchildren, Jess and Jay, Adam and Jess, Erica, Aimee, Emily, Kelli and
Dan, Miranda, Jake and Hannah; nine great-grandchildren, Noahh, Devin, Hunter, Deegan, Gabi, Mia, Rafael, Jurnee and Ryan; four sisters, Marianne Wilhelm, Ruth Peace, Jane Cameron and Nancy Elbel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Morgan Pearce; three sisters, Irene Jones, Jeanette Slovinski and Helen Greenawalt; and six brothers, George, Tom, Bill, Dick, Jim and John Mallory.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Thompson officiating.

Interment will be at Pleasant Hill EUB Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Mrs. Pearce, to the charity of the donor’s choice.
