PINE CREEK TOWNSHIP — The Jefferson County Fair will kick off for yet another year of food, events, exhibits and fun this weekend at the fairgrounds.

While the animals and exhibits will arrive today, the festivities will get underway Sunday.

“I’m excited about all kinds of stuff,” said Jim Grant, the fair secretary.

This year’s fair will feature some new attractions, such as chainsaw carvers and an anticipated NASCAR exhibit. It will also see the return of some traditional favorites, such as livestock shows and sales; music, including a Battle of the Teen Bands that will run from Monday through next Saturday; cheerleading expos; demolition derbies; and a professional rodeo.

“There are all kinds of little details that need to be worked out,” Grant said of the process behind the fair. “We’ve had really good community support.”

The fair will run from today through next Saturday.
