Janet A. Schiafone, 73

Janet A. Schiafone, 73, of Euclid Ave. Brookville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.

The daughter of William Hart Commons and Elizabeth Taylor Commons, Janet was born on Oct. 14, 1940, in Barnesboro, Pa.

On May 20, 2000, she married William Joseph Schiafone Sr., who survives, in Brookville.

She worked as a custodian for the Brookville Area School District for more than 25 years.

Janet was a member of the First Church of God in Brookville, an area director for Gideon’s International Auxiliary, a chaplain and vice president for the Jefferson Co. Chapter of the Gideons and a former member of the Aglo Organization.

She enjoyed painting and taking painting classes at the Heritage House in Brookville, but most importantly, she loved taking care of her home and especially her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Cathy Wargo of Hawley, Pa., and Janice Bailey of Brookville; two sons, Daniel Stormer (Kelly) of Corsica, Pa., and Charles Stormer of Corsica, Pa.; two step-daughters, Linda Goss of Delray Beach, Florida, and Brenda Deal (Richard) of Kenesaw, Georgia; two step-sons, Allen Schiafone (Laurie) of Ridgway, Pa., and William Schiafone Jr. of Erie, Pa.; one sister, Phylisa Noble (William) of Tullahoma, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Charles Stormer; three brothers, William, Charles and Richard Commons; and one sister, Betty Lou Shilling.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at the First Church of God in Brookville, officiated by the Rev. Henry Scoff.

Interment will take place at Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville, Pa.
