James T. Lockard, 85

James T. Lockard, 85, Brookville, died Friday, March 23, 2012, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville.

He was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Montgomery Township, Indiana County, a son of the late Thomas Nelson and Alice (Sturgeon) Lockard.

Aug. 26, 1950, he married Marion "Mimi" Smith, who preceded him in death Feb. 6, 2012.

Mr. Lockard worked as a roofer and a carpenter.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a paratrooper for the 472nd Glider BN in the Pacific Theater.

He attended the Brookville Church of Christ, enjoyed woodworking and was a people person who loved spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Patty Acanfora and husband Nick of Hamburg, N.Y., and Sherrie Geist and husband Fran of Worthville; a son, Jeffrey Lockard of Clarion; three brothers, Harry Lockard and wife Bernadine of Glen Campbell, and Paul Lockard and wife Barbara and Frank Lockard and wife Sandra, all of Walnutport; a sister, Winifred Lauffer of Walnutport; three sisters-in-law, Grace, Velma and Donna Lockard; numerous nieces and nephews; a very special family friend, Bruce Spencer of Clarion; six step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Tommy Lockard; three brothers, Charles, Roy and Melvin Lockard; and a sister, Dollie Pennington.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Lockard Jr. officiating.

Interment will be at Burnside Cemetery in Clearfield County.

Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ, 20 Hughey Rd., Brookville, Pa. 15825; DRMC Hospice, 100 Hospital Rd., DuBois, Pa. 15801; or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
