James Louis Stellabuto, 86

James Louis Stellabuto, 86, of DuBois, formerly of Big Run, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at DuBois Nursing Home.

He was born Jan. 20, 1927, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Antonio and Emma (Manzzoni) Stellabotta. After his mother's early death, his father was remarried to Domenica "Margaret" Lorelli.

Mr. Stellabuto was a member of the United States Navy, serving during World War II, where he earned the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal.

On June 23, 1947, he married Helen Louise Salsgiver. He cared for his wife at home for many years prior to her death on Nov. 29, 1998.

His enjoyments were his dog Christie, his truck and the Pittsburgh
Steelers.

He is survived by two sons, James Gary (Bernice) Stellabuto of DuBois, and David Lawrence Stellabuto of Folsom, Pa.; four grandchildren, Noah Stellabuto of Falls Creek, Bill Long of Latrobe, Joshua Stellabuto of Lakeland, Fla., and Nikol Stellabuto of Salamanca; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, William (Marie) Stellabuto of Rochester, N.Y., John (Shirley) Stellabuto of Punxsutawney and Richard (Doris) Stellabuto of Jessup, Md.; and three sisters, Amelia Thompson, Linda (Harry) Conser and Geraldine (Butch) Troutman, all of Punxsutawney.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his stepmother; two sisters, Caroline Ritchey and Rita Heckman; and one brother, Eugene Stellabuto.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.

Memorial donations may be made the American Diabetes Association.
