James Leroy Titler, 71

James Leroy Titler, 71, Northpoint, formerly of Punxsutawney, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the home of his daughter, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Feb. 28, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio, a son of the late Kenneth Leroy and Roberta Jane (Miller) Titler.

On Oct. 1, 1960, he married the former Velva Louise Wood. She survives.

Mr. Titler was a member of Center Hill Community Church.

He was very dedicated to the church.

He was board president of the church, and his last project was overseeing the expansion of the church.

Due to his illness, he did not have an to opportunity sit in one of the new pews in the expansion.

His funeral will be the first to be celebrated in the new addition.

Jim was a former member of the Punxsutawney Sportsmen Club, and he will be remembered for the many chicken barbecues he served.

His hobbies included collecting key chains, hunting, fishing and going to flea markets.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Connie Jordan and husband Timothy of Northpoint, Cheryl Curley and husband Roger of Reynoldsville, and Cindy Shiock and husband Dave of Reynoldsville; six grandchildren, LeAnn Meyer, Debbie Gouldthread, Amy McCombs, Jill Curley and Jacob and Luke Shiock; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Jean Chapman of Milton Center, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Deborah Titler; and two sisters, Bonnie Fortney and Kathy Carver.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Center Hill Community Church, Knoxdale, officiated by Pastor Guy Felmlee.

Interment will follow at Circle Hill Cemetery.
