James L. Sprankle, 90, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Sprankle Personal Care Home.
He was born April 19, 1924, a son of the late George and Carmen (Harwick) Sprankle.
He attended the First Assembly of God Church.
He was a retired tree trimmer for Penn Lines.
He was a veteran of World War II, where he served with the United States Air Force, and was a member of the Rossiter American Legion.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, gardening and going to sales and auctions.
Surviving relatives include four brothers, Merle Sprankle of Punxsutawney, Richard Sprankle of Tennessee, Larry Sprankle of Falls Church, Virginia, and Robert Sprankle of Punxsutawney; a special friend, Mary Olive Baker of Punxsutawney; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Sprankle; and two sisters, Norma Barnett and Nettie Domb.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Michaux officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Assembly of God Church or to the Rossiter American Legion.
Interment will be in Valier Cemetery.
