James L. Behrendt, 80

James L. Behrendt, 80, Brookville, passed away Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born Nov. 22, 1930, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Andrew Behrendt and Elizabeth (Morgan) Behrendt.

Mr. Behrendt was married to Annabell (Parise) Behrendt, who survives.

He was a mechanic at Cadillac Motors in Detroit, Mich., and a parishioner of Saint Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Walston.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include three sons, James Behrendt and wife Diane of Lincoln Park, Mich., Gary Behrendt and wife Debra of Dearborn Heights, Mich., and Gerald Behrendt and wife Becky of Lincoln Park, Mich.; a daughter, Karen Ganz and husband Rick of Aurora, Colo.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Glenn Behrendt and wife Jackie of Valier.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harlan, Earl and Everett Behrendt; and four sisters, Fannie Jarcenko, Florence Morrell, Alice Bish and Edith Manganelli.

At the request of the family, there will be no visitation.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church in Punxsutawney, with Msgr. Joseph J. Riccardo officiating.

Place of interment is Calvary Cemetery in Punxsutawney.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.
