James K. Zents, 82

James K. Zents, 82, Brookville, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born June 8, 1928, in Brookville, a son of the late Harry Esmond and Alva Estella (Maxwell) Zents.
He made his home with Patricia A. McKinney, who survives.

Mr. Zents was a veteran of the Military Police, having served in the Korean conflict.

He was a carpenter and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville; a 1946 graduate of Brookville Area High School; a member of the Local No. 333, for which he was a past recording secretary; and a very active member of F.O.E. No. 983 in Brookville, in which he was a past trustee.

Mr. Zents was also a past Brookville Area School District and Jeff Tech board member.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Eric J. Zents and wife Liza of Brookville, and Matthew K. Zents of Ontario, Calif.; two daughters, Janet E. Murphy and husband Tom of Brookville, and Karen M. Smith and husband Clifford of Bluemont, Va.; and a grandson, Kevin C. Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel M. Dinger Zents; four brothers, Chester, Harry “Max,” George, and Francis “Gene” Zents; and four sisters, Freda Bigger, Ruth O’Conner, Edith McGinnis and Catherine Fortunato.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at the McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville.

An Eagles service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at the funeral home with the Rev. Timothy McConville officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Eldred Township.
