James D. Rowles, 71

James D. Rowles, 71, Troutville, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, in Punxsutawney.

He was born on Jan. 9, 1941, in Grampian, a son of the late John and Wilma (Lee) Rowles.

He was active in the East Branch Camp and enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and his dog, Hunter.

He retired from Greenwich Collieries in Cherry Tree after 25 years of service to the company.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Edward Rowles, and Rod Rowles and wife Cathy of Summerville; four daughters, Judy Lundy and husband Bud of Reynoldsville, and Tami Setree and husband Brian, Vonda Anderson and husband Wes, and Amy Smith and husband Wes, all of Punxsutawney; five sisters, Sally Sheffield and husband Bill of Florida, Ellamae Marian and husband Walter of Scranton; Jane Roger and husband Kerry of Michigan, Bonnie Rowe and husband Jim of Scranton, and Carla Knarr and husband Alvin of Punxsutawney; four brothers, Lee Rowles and wife Martha of Hazen, Fred Rowles and wife Erlane of Honesdale, Rick Rowles and wife Cheri of Punxsutawney, and Tom Rowles and wife Myrtle of Indiana, Pa.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held for family and close friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m, Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Henry Scoff officiating.

Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mahaffey.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Rowles, may be made to the Gateway Humane Society, 1211 Airport Road, Falls Creek, PA 15840.
