Irene C. Hopkins, 88
Irene C. Hopkins, 88, Punxsutawney, passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Mahoning Riverside Manor, Punxsutawney.
She was born July 10, 1924, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Hannon) McCullough.
She was married to James M. “Hoppy” Hopkins, who preceded her in death on April 29, 2008.
She was a member of the SS.C.D. Roman Catholic Church of Punxsutawney.
She was a great wife, homemaker and beloved mother to all her children and grandchildren.
She was brought into this world to do what she knew best, and that was to love her husband and children.
She will be sadly missed by all the family.
Some of her favorite family adventures were the family trips to Las Vegas, Nevada.
She is survived by five sons and one daughter, James Hopkins and wife Joan of Anita, Robert Hopkins and wife Mary Alice of Baltimore, Md., Kevin Hopkins of Rossiter, Mark Hopkins of Punxsutawney, Patrick Hopkins and fiancé Melissa Constant of Rossiter, and Mary Brown and husband Gary of Scottsdale, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Heather Hopkins, Elysia Casaday, Rachel Brown, Mark A. Hopkins, Taylor Hopkins, Michelle Hutton, Jonathon Hopkins and Nichole Hopkins; and three great-grandchildren; Jacob Hopkins, Noah Hutton and Addison Grace Hutton.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Paul Hopkins; and four brothers and a sister, Francis “Red” McCullough, Jack McCullough, Monsignor James McCullough, Richard “Dick” McCullough and Rita Tiplady.
A private visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney, for family and close friends.
A private funeral service will be held for the family.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
The family wants to thank Mahoning Riverside Manor for the great care and love they have given and shown to her, especially to her special friends Art and Connie, as well as the Hospice team.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Mrs. Hopkins’ memory, to VNA Hospice.
