Irene (Bernardo) Prutznal-Grube, 86, of Punxsutawney, passed away, Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Grube was born Dec. 21, 1927, in Rossiter, a daughter of the late Fiore and Susie (Vadassy) Bernardo.

Ms. Grube was Catholic by faith. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and doing crafts.

She is survived by two sons, Terry Prutznal and wife Lanette of Columbus, Mich., and Daniel Prutznal and wife Peggy of Punxsutawney; three daughters, Pam Nichol and husband Ralph, Mona Conners and husband Tom and Missy Hoover and husband Tom, all of Punxsutawney; two sisters; Betty Mlechick of Reynoldsville and Marge Gillespie of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas Conners; three brothers, Kenneth and James Bernardo and an infant brother; four sisters, Beverly Garcia, Genevieve Ansinger, Mary Bono and Donna Bernardo.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A blessing service will be held at 11 am Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the funeral home with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo as celebrant.

Private interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Rossiter.
