Howard D. McKee, 89

Howard D. McKee, 89, of Rossiter, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the DuBois Nursing Home.

Mr. McKee was born April 17, 1925, in Pennsylvania, a son of the late Morgan and Maude (Lockard) McKee.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Emily I. (Waring) McKee.

Howard enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman.

He was self-employed as a core driller for his company, McKee Drilling.

He was a member of the Steffy Church and served on the board of trustees.

Howard also served as president of the Devers Cemetery Association and was a member of the Knepps Hunting Camp.

Howard is survived by a son, Delbert McKee and wife Corona of Rossiter; a daughter, Kathy Getty of Franklin, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Barbara McKee and husband Ed Sokalski, Justin McKee and wife Stephanie, Nathan Getty, and Brian Getty and wife Marie; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Martha Duke of Tennessee and Marion Kyser of Punxsutawney.

In addition to his wife, Howard was preceded in death by an infant son, Clayton McKee, and a granddaughter, Tiffany Getty.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, and Saturday, June 28, 2014, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, with the Rev. Paul Thompson officiating.

Interment will follow at Devers Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. McKee's name to the Steffy Church Memorial Fund at 770 Bonner Rd., Rossiter PA, 15772.
