Henrietta S. "Honey" Pennington, 84, Rossiter, died Thursday, May 26, 2011, at her home.

She was born Sept. 14, 1926, in Rossiter, a daughter of the late Carl F. and Scharlotte (Tucker) Stamler.

She was married to Edward Pennington, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Pennington attended the Valley Chapel Church and was a volunteer and a Candy Striper manager at Punxsutawney Area Hospital for many years. She also served as a nurse at Camp Friendship, a volunteer for Home Health, Toys for Tots, Red Cross bloodmobiles, the Punxsy Groundhog Polka Club, of which she was a charter member for 17 years, and the Rossiter Alumni for 15 years. She was also a member of the Rossiter Volunteer Fire Company.

She was a Sunday School teacher and Bible School director at St. Mark's Evengelical Church.

Surviving relatives include three sons, Edward Pennington and wife Margaret of DuBois, Frederick Pennington and wife Arlene of Rossiter, and Dennis Pennington of Punxsutawney; a brother, Herbert Stamler and wife Elveria of Ohio; and three sisters, Dorothy Vendetta of Rossiter, Phyllis Rugh of Valier, and Mary Painter of Rossiter; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and her long-time companion, Paul Joyce of Punxsutawney.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Pennington; two brothers, Eugene and Wilbert Stamler; and two sisters, Glenna and an infant sister, Lois.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. today at Valley Chapel Church with Pastor Tim Bowser and the Rev. Donald Brauer co-officiating.
Interment will follow at Pearce Cemetery in Rossiter.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rossiter Volunteer Fire Company.

Arrangements are under the direction of the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
